Course Description:

This 8-hour course is intended for people with little or no pistol shooting experience. It is an introduction to the basics of pistol shooting, including the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to shoot a handgun safely and accurately at a very basic level.

This course fulfills the requirements for the 8 hour 1st day of training for your CCW.

Students interested in trying a variety of guns can rent them when we go to the range (additional fee paid to the range, not us).  Choosing a handgun just by holding it in the store is like choosing a car by sitting in it in a parking lot.  The benefit to this provides students the opportunity to actually test fire many different guns and calibers, to make a better informed gun purchase decision.

Topics:

  • Basic safety
  • Gun parts and operation
  • Fundamentals of marksmanship
  • Ammunition fundamentals
  • Range etiquette

Prerequisites:

  • Safety glasses.

I felt wayyyy better about myself after taking this class. There was a lot of good information and the instructor really knew his stuff. Not an intimidating class to take at all.

Came in not knowing what to expect, however Joe put me at ease and made the learning process simple and fun. I’m a lot more comfortable handling my gun now that I took this class and would highly recommend it to anyone I know.

This was such a great class. I had never handled a firearm before and when I left that day, I felt both comfortable and safe. Joe really stresses safe handling and I appreciated that as it is very easy to make a mistake when this is new. Also Joe is very thoughtful. I was having trouble at the firing range with the noise from shooters next to me, despite having hearing protection. Joe went through the effort to get me a second pair of ear plugs I could wear in addition to my hearing protection. That was helpful and I was very grateful. I highly recommend taking this course.

Being a retired LEO, I wanted to take Joe Cosentino’s course to keep my skills proficient. I spent 4/2/22 with Joe as an my instructor. His classroom, inert weapons, and Powerpoint were exceptional. Joe’s teaching methods are excellent and his presentation was outstanding. Our range time allowed me to put to use what Joe taught me in the classroom. My shooting skills improved and I am excited about attending more of Joes classes in the future. My wife will be attending one of his classes in the future.
Thanks again Joe for being an outstanding instructor.
